Turkish Armed Forces has dug at least two metres wide and three meters deep canals at critical points along the Turkey-Syria border within scope of fighting against illegal border crossings and smuggling.
Turkish Armed Forces not only entrenched canals with the aid of construction machines, but are also on patrol for a close watch of the borders.
Incidents along the border have reduced, authorities said.
Lieutenant Colonel Sertac Binbasioglu told Anadolu Agency there was an active physical security system along the canals dug and wire netting.
