Two U.S. drone strikes killed 11 Taliban militants and injured three others in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province near the Pakistani border, Afghan authorities said.
According to Afghan officials, notorious Taliban commander, Zarqawi, was among those killed.
He was killed on Nov. 29 along with seven other militants in a drone attack on their hideout in the Sherzad district of Nangarhar province some 154 km east of the capital Kabul.
At least three other militants were killed and three others injured while in their vehicles by a U.S. drone on Tuesday morning in the Lalpor district of Nagarhar province, local police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told The Anadolu Agency.
U.S. forces carry out drone strikes almost every other day and have proved effective, said Mashriqiwal, adding that no civilian casualties were reported.
The eastern Nangarhar province bordering Pakistan is believed to be a relatively peaceful province.
However, at least 30 people were injured when a bomb exploded in a mosque in Nangarhar province last week.
