President Francois Hollande has called French parliament to convene urgently on September 4 to discuss over a possible military intervention in Syria.
A statement by Elysee Presidential Palace said following meetings of council of ministers and national security council, both led by Hollande that the parliament members were asked to convene next week to be informed on French government steps regarding Syria.
Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and Defense Minister Yves Le Drian will inform MPs and senators about French steps to be taken on Syria, the statement said.
A government statement meanwhile reiterated French President Hollande’s determination on a suitable response to chemical weapon use by Syrian regime against civilians.
