TUNIS
Tunisian politician Mohamed Brahmi was shot dead outside his house on Thursday morning.
Brahmi was a member of the Movement of the People Party, which is part of the same coalition that Chokri Belaid, another opposition politician killed in February, belonged to.
Brahmi was taken to hospital immediately after the assault, but was later pronounced dead, Tunisian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Brahmi had eleven bullets in his body when he was hospitalized, the statement said.
The assassination of Chokri Belaid of the Democratic Patriots' Movement had caused major public outrage and weeks of violent protests, and resulted in the fall of the government in Tunisia.
