Donors pledged more than 1.5 billion USD for Syrians at the UN-sponsored international donor conference in Kuwait on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference at the end of the donor conference, the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon stressed that he was very happy to announce that the amount collected as donation to the Syrians exceeded expectations.
"We have collected more than 1.5 billion USD today to help the Syrians," Ban Ki-moon indicated.
"I call on the members of the UN Security Council to act with responsibility in the name of humanity and history. The situation in Syria can not go on like this," Ban Ki-moon also said.
