BRUSSELS
The European Commission approved of Google’s anti-trust proposal on Wednesday to display the services of three rivals in a similar form to users.
The EU Commission opened an anti-trust or competition investigation in 2010 into allegations claiming that Google tried to push out competitors and abused its dominance on the Internet search market.
The EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said he believes the new proposal obtained from Google can now address the Commission's concerns ‘’after long and difficult talks''.
Almunia underlined that Google’s latest proposal will give users the opportunity to see and compare products from rival companies, and that Google’s competitors will be consulted before the proposal becomes legally binding.
