Bundesliga club Schalke 04 have dismissed their German head coach Jens Keller.
Italian Roberto Di Matteo will replace Keller, who was dismissed on Tuesday, according to a statement made on the German club's website.
Di Matteo will reportedly be signed until 2017 and presented to the public Wednesday.
Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo guided the English Premier League club to win the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League title in 2012.
Having managed "Die Knappen" (The Miners) for 22 months, Keller was sacked after the team performed poorly in Bundesliga.
Assistant coach Peter Hermann and goalkeeping coach Holger Gehrke were also dismissed.
Schalke 04, who have collected eight points in seven weeks, are now in 11th place in Bundesliga.
