A total of 37 Palestinians, who have been living in Greek Cypriot side, took shelter in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as they were subjected to pressure and maltreatment.
The Palestinians, who have been living in Greek Cypriot side for seven years as refugees, applied to TRNC Refugee Rights Association to take shelter in TRNC.
The association's chairperson Ceren Goynuklu told AA that there was no regulation in TRNC regarding refugee mechanism, and this might create an international problem.
Goynuklu said that 37 Palestinians, including 21 children, arrived in TRNC by a tourist visa for 30 days.
One of the Palestinians told AA that they had been staying in Greek Cypriot side under very harsh circumstances, adding that they had been under pressure there because they were Muslims.
The EU has refugee rights but these rights don't work in Greek Cypriot administration, he said.
Meanwhile, TRNC Red Crescent extended a helping hand to the Palestinians.
