Solution process to Kurdish issue has become a hope for the tourism agencies too.
Turkey Tourism Agencies Association (TURSAB) executive Suat Gurkok told AA that especially eastern and southeastern Anatolian regions would emerge thanks to the solution process because many tourists from Europe and several other places of the world had not been able to visit the region as it was considered as a risky one.
The solution process will have positive contributions both in the region and in Turkey in the aspects of economy and promotion, he said.
When solution process is concluded, the number of tourists visiting eastern and southeastern Anatolia regions will increase three or four times, Gurkok said.
He noted that when the tourism developed in the region, unemployment rate would drop.
Murat Karayilan, one of the heads of PKK terrorist organization, recently said that PKK terrorists were set to begin withdrawing from Turkey on May 8. The withdrawal announcement followed a call by PKK's jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan for ceasefire as part of talks with Turkish intelligence officials to end nearly three decades of armed conflict that killed tens of thousands of people.
