ISTANBUL (AA) - September 6, 2012 - The ninth "Airex 2012 Aviation and Airports Exhibition" opened its doors to visitors in Istanbul on Thursday under the sponsorship of TAV Airports.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition, the Chairman of the Executive Board of TAV Airports, Sani Sener said that the "Airex was a crucial event to show the development of Turkish aviation industry".
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Turkish Airlines (THY), Hamdi Topcu said that the exhibition will open in 2014 under the title "Istanbul Airshow".
"The exhibition will become an important event to contribute to the value of the Istanbul brand," Topcu underlined.
The world's biggest passenger jet, Airbus A380, will be on display at the Airex 2012 Aviation and Airports Exhibition in Istanbul.
The exhibition will take place for the ninth time at the Ataturk International Airport between September 6 and 9.
More than 150 companies in the aviation sector will attend the exhibition.
An Airbus A380 passenger jet will be on display at the exhibition on the first day of the event. The jet has a capacity for 850 passengers.
Those potential clients planning to purchase airplanes will have a chance for test flights.
