ANKARA
Turkey's new Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan stressed the "mental revolution" that Anadolu Agency made during his visit to the agency's headquarters on Wednesday.
"Especially in AK Party's recent term, and when Kemal Ozturk became the chairman of the agency, a big change happened, not just with technological improvement, but also a huge change in minds happened," Akdogan said.
After being greeted by Director-General and Board Chairman of the agency, Kemal Ozturk, Deputy Prime Minister Akdogan received a presentation about the agency.
Akdogan is appointed as Deputy Prime Minister last Friday by Ahmet Davutoglu as part of Turkey's 62nd government's cabinet.
Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of the harmony between the media and communication institutions in Turkey, as he is responsible for the communication and media organizations' coordination.
Akdogan also singled out the Anadolu Agency correspondents who are working abroad, said they are representing Turkey.
Director General Kemal Ozturk agreed with Akdogan and said the agency has a global coverage from New York to London and will get stronger day-by-day.
Anadolu Agency is already a well-established global news agency offering a newswire service in seven languages with operations around the globe, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Asia-Pacific.
It serves business clients in more than 100 countries and is one of the main sources for discovering, purchasing and managing images and other digital content.
As part of its centennial vision, the agency plans to broadcast in 11 languages by 2020. The agency currently broadcasts in Turkish, Arabic, English, Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian, Russian, Kurdish, and French.
