ANKARA
The Chinese government has donated $1 million to the UN refugee agency for Syrian refugees, China's first ever aid for civil war-stricken Syrians, UNHCR said Wednesday.
The agency said the donation would be allocated for refugees staying in camps in Turkey through the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate.
UNHCR puts the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey at 163,161 as of January 27 and 710,000 others took shelter in neighboring countries.
