The number of foreign tourists in the four months of 2013 increased 6.3 percent compared to the same term in 2012 and 1.2 million foreign tourists visited Turkish southern province of Antalya in 2013.
According to data released by the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers Association (AKTOB), the number of foreign tourists visiting Antalya increased by 6.3 percent to 1.2 million between January 1 and April 30, 2013 compared to the same term of previous year. Antalya had attracted 10.4 million foreign tourists in 2011.
The number of tourists from Germany who visited Antalya took the first place with 488,200 in four months of 2013.
After the Mavi Marmara incident and tensions between Turkey and Israel, there was a decrease in the Israeli market. However, in the four months of 2013 there was a major rise in Israeli market. In last year's January-April period, 5,345 Israelis visited Antalya and in the same term of 2013, this figure rose to 11,430. The rise was noted as 113.8 percent.
