HATAY
Turkey's IHH (Humanitarian Relief Foundation) sends 10-15 trucks a day through three border crossings along the Turkey-Syria border to help struggling Syrians.
IHH official Burak Karacaoglu told AA that IHH has sent food, blankets, and medical equipment to Syria so far.
“Around 30,000 people are trying to live in difficult conditions,” he added. “We struggle to send aid to refugees, mostly women and children in camps.”
The only way for aid to reach Syrians who have not been able to flee their country during the three-year civil war is through three border crossings: Cilvegozu in the southern province of Hatay, Oncupinar in south-central Kilis province and Akcakale in southeastern Sanliurfa province.
Most Syrians shelter in Turkey and neighboring countries or live in tent cities, while thousands of others live in fear of death and in need of aid from other countries and relief organizations.
Karacaoglu indicated they face the possibility of air strikes by regime forces while distributing the aid in the cities off Aleppo, Hama and Damascus.
IHH delivers aid to 23 different camps near the Turkish-Syrian border, but the amount is insufficient due to the increased number of Syrians trying to escape the attacks.
Oncupinar cross border in Kilis has been used to send aid for refugees in Aleppo and its surroundings said Karacaoglu. He added that they gave food around 10000 Syrians in the last 1.5 year.
