LONDON
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge looks positively to Istanbul's candidacy to host the 2020 Olympic Games.
Erdogan's comments came after meeting Rogge in London earlier on Friday.
"The IOC looks positively to Istanbul's candidacy to host the 2020 Olympic Games. However, there are three countries competing to host the 2020 Olympic Games. As administrators, the IOC President Rogge and his staff members can not make any comments on the host of the 2020 Olympic Games currently. Tokyo, Madrid and Istanbul will compete against each other to host the 2020 Olympic Games. We will prepare Istanbul to host the games in 2020," Erdogan stressed.
