IZMIR
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on Thursday signed a protocol with Turkey stipulating cooperation in tourism between the two countries.
Accompanied by his spouse Angelica Rivera Hurtado de Pena along with Izmir Governor Mustafa Toprak and his spouse Selime Toprak, Nieto paid a visit to Ephesus Ancient City in Selcuk district of Turkey's western port province of Izmir in the last step of his two-day Turkey talks.
Nieto described it as a privilege to end his talks in one of the key centers of the ancient history, as the first Mexican president to pay a visit to Turkey.
Later on, Mexican leader signed the protocol stipulating cooperation in tourism between the two countries before the Celsus Library in Ephesus Ancient City.
He stated that the visit yielded good results in terms of enhancing the bilateral relations of the two countries, so as to further strengthen the 85-year relations.
Referring to the other agreements he inked in Ankara on Wednesday, he extended hope that the signed official documents would add a new dimension in the exisiting relations.
After completing his talks in Izmir, Nieto and his spouse Angelica Rivera Hurtado de Pena departed from Izmir for Mexico Thursday evening.
