SIRNAK, Turkey
A Turkish policeman was martyred on Tuesday after he was injured in a PKK terrorist attack in Turkey’s southeastern province of Sirnak last week, security sources said.
Atilla Gunes had been taken to Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) in Ankara after he was wounded by PKK terrorists in Sirnak's Cizre town.
The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign in late July. Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
