ANKARA
At least two people, including a civilian and a policeman were injured in an exchange of fire in Turkey’s southeastern Sirnak province on Monday, official sources said.
According to the sources, an unknown attacker had opened fire on police guarding interior ministry inspectors inside the municipality building in Cizre district. Policemen responded to the attack and in the exchange, police officer Cengiz D. and civilian Resat Gicer got injured.
After the incident, local governor Ahmet Adanur visited the crime scene and the injured in the hospital.
It remains unclear who was behind the attack and the police were investigating all angles in the incident.
