Demonstrations in Taksim Square which started on Friday to protest the demoliton of Taksim Gezi Park and uprooting of trees have subsided and a clean up started in Turkey's Istanbul.
Municipal workers began cleaning the streets where flagstones and traffic signs were removed over the past two nights.
In the protests in central Ankara,Turkish capital 16 buses were destroyed and 6 cars which belong to the municipality were set on fire, bus stops and advertising boards were also damaged.
The protests initially started as a sit-in at the Taksim Gezi Park to protest the demolition but turned into big clashes after police crackdown and heavy use of tear gas and water cannon.
90 protests were held in 48 separate provinces and 936 people were arrested. Some of those arrested were released, while others will be put on trial.
Turkish police withdrew from Taksim Gezi Park early Sunday morning.
