Russian diplomats deployed in the Turkish capital have briefed their Turkish counterparts on Russia's proposal to hold an international summit on Syria.
Diplomats with the Russian Embassy in Ankara visited the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters last week in a move to inform Turkish authorities on the context and potential participants of an international conference on the Syrian conflict, ministry officials told AA on Monday.
Lavrov said last week that the states which had a certain influence on Syria such as permanent members of the UN Security Council, Turkey, Iran, Arab League, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and European Union, should be included in the conference.

On the other hand,Turkey's minister of foreign affairs and the UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria have discussed the latest developments concerning the Syrian conflict.
Over a telephone conversation, UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan briefed Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on his latest talks in Washington while the two officials also assessed Russia's recent proposal to convene an international conference on Syria, diplomatic sources told AA.
