ANKARA
Turkey's ambassador to Lebanon Suleyman Inan Ozyildiz said on Friday that Turkey had been doing its best on the abducted Lebanese citizens in Syria on May 22.
Ozyildiz told AA correspondent in Ankara that some groups in Lebanon targeted Turkey as if Turkey did not do anything on purpose regarding the abducted Lebanese pilgrims. Assessing those reactions, Ozyildiz said Turkey had been doing its best and Lebanese officials did not have any doubts on Turkey's cooperation.
Saying that the relatives of those pilgrims were still reacting to Turkey, holding protests in front of the embassy time to time, Ozyildiz added they were in touch with those families and informed them regularly.
A total of 11 Lebanese Shias on their way home from a religious pilgrimage in Iran were abducted in Syria's Aleppo province on May 22 and two of them were released.
