Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Wednesday said that Turkey was not the wrongdoer of the Syrian crisis.
Speaking on private TGRT TV channel on Wednesday, Ahmet Davutoglu stressed that it was not them who told the Syrian citizens to uprise or demand democratic rights.
"Likewise, it was not us who told the Syrian regime to crush the uprising or use heavy force," Davutoglu noted.
"On the contrary, we have always tried to show the correct path to the Syrians," Davutoglu said.
"Turkey implements its own strategy in a conscious manner. We have a strategy on Syria that we implement one by one," Davutoglu stressed.
We use diplomacy in the case of Syria as a tool of deterrence, Davutoglu stated.
Our ultimate aim is to facilitate national security for Turkey and facilitate conditions with international community in Syria so that a democratic administration comes up there, Davutoglu said.
"When Turkey retaliated to Syria following the Akcakale incident in which Syrian artillery shells that landed in the town killed 5 Turks and wounded 9 others, there was no country in the world that criticized Turkey. The UN Security Council issued a statement condemning Syria following the Akcakale incident," Davutoglu also stated.
