Turkish jets carried out airstrikes on targets of the terror group PKK in northern Iraq on Tuesday, hitting ammunition dumps and shelters, the military said.
The strikes in the Gara region saw 22 F-16 and F-4 warplanes destroy all their targets, a source said condition of anonymity due to security concerns.
The PKK - listed as a terrorist group also by the U.S. and the EU -- launched a fresh offensive against Turkey in July. Turkey has responded with counter-terrorism operations in the southeast and airstrikes on the group’s bases in Iraq.
