A thief in Turkey’s Istanbul province left part of his finger behind while fleeing at the crime scene on Tuesday.
Security sources left unnamed due to restrictions on speaking with the media told Anadolu Agency that six thieves broke into a house in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district on early Tuesday and stole notebook computers, cellphones, and wallets with bankcards and ID cards.
However, Veysel Durmus, the landlord, was woken up by the noise and scuffled with the burglars.
While fleeing, one of the thieves got his finger stuck in an iron railing of the staircase and left the fingertip behind in his haste.
The six thieves fled without retrieving the fingertip.
Armed with this forensic evidence, police are reportedly investigating the robbery.
There was no word on whether police would accept further tips to help crack the case.
