BANGUI
At least 80 people drowned after their boat sank in the M'poko River in Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic.
"The boat was carrying more than 100 people when it sank," transportation director Silvère Yabada said in a Thursday statement.
Without elaborating, Yabada said only 20 boat passengers had managed to survive.
Hundreds of Central Africans use boats to cross the M'poko River every day to get to work.
