BEIJING
A man has been sentenced to 14 months in jail in China for hurling an ink bottle at Chairman Mao Zedong's portrait in Tiananmen Square.
The Global Times reported Wednesday that a Beijing court had passed the sentence against Sun Bing for staining Mao's portrait in the March 6 incident last year.
It added that the 42-year-old had defied the law when he made a mess and caused public disorder.
The area near the rostrum was cordoned off following the incident and Sun was arrested by local police.
