At least 69 people, including 14 women and nine children were killed when a passenger ferry, the MV Mostafa, capsized Sunday morning in Bangladesh, an official said.
A goods tanker, MV Nargis, crashed into the ferry on the Paturia-Daulatdia route on Padma River in Manikgonj district, according to police.
The sunken ferry was lifted after 17 hours of the accident Sunday.
A senior police officer of Manikgonj district, Bidhan Tripura, confirmed the new death toll in a phone interview.
A rescue team is still searching for more bodies, Tripura said.
He added that the passenger vessel turned upside down after it was hit by the cargo vessel.
