NEW YORK (AA) - Egyptians living in the United States (US) gathered in support of democratically elected Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, who was ousted on July 3 by the military establishment, in the state of New Jersey on Saturday.
Youths read poems during the protest in which nearly 500 people participated, and a play was performed about the humanitarian tragedies experienced during the coup period.
The Egyptian-American Democracy and Human Rights Organization organized the protest, during which Egyptians demonstrated against the crises their country has been facing since the military coup.
Criticizing US Congress members for their continued support to the undemocratic administration in Egypt, Egyptian-American Democracy and Human Rights Organization Vice-President Ahmed Shehata told AA, “We are gathered here today to unite with our people in Egypt and share their troubles. Our main purpose is to send a message to Congress members.''
