MAIDUGURI, Nigeria
At least two people were killed and four others were injured in a bomb explosion near the office of secret police in Nigeria's northeast Maiduguri city on Saturday, witnesses said.
A suicide bomber suspected to be a Boko Haram militant targeted a 14-passenger bus that took off at a bus station near the office of the Department of State Service on Saturday morning, Usman Jidda, a bus driver who witnessed the explosion, said.
"A young man in a tricycle near the motor park started pursuing a bus that just took off from the park," Usman said. "Suddenly, we heard an explosion from the tricycle. The blast went off as the cyclist could not cope with the speed of the bus. The bomber and one resident were killed."
An Anadolu Agency reporter who visited the scene said the bomb went off about 200 meters from the office of secret police.
There was no immediate reaction from the Nigerian authorities.
