KARACHI
Police killed nine suspected Taliban militants in an alleged encounter in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi Sunday, Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo said.
Thebo said the suspects belonged to a Pakistani Taliban group.
The senior official said police teams battled the suspected militants for "hours" in the city's eastern district.
"We have recovered heavy weapons, chemicals, explosives material and two auto rickshaws from their possession," he added.
