ANKARA
Turkey carried on with its works in the technical area in the EU accession process, owing to the Positive Agenda created for the purpose of not losing speed during Greek Cypriot Administration's EU term presidency.
In preparing for Ireland's EU term presidency, Turkey made progress cooperating in meeting the closure criteria in the negotiation chapters, visa exemption and energy topics.
Turkey attempted not to lose speed in the EU accession negotiations owing to the Positive Agenda, during the Greek Cypriot Administratrion's EU Term Presidency which started six months ago and will end on January 1. Although the positive agenda model was unique in the union, it was a first as it was determined according to Ankara's priorities.
The new positive agenda intended to bring fresh dynamics into the EU-Turkey relations was launched by Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Fule and the Turkish Minister for European Affairs and Chief EU negotiator Egemen Bagis on May 17, 2012. The aim of this process was to keep the accession process of Turkey alive and put it properly back on track after a period of stagnation.
