One man was killed at least on Sunday during clashes between demonstrators and army troops outside the state television building in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, a local radio station reported.
The situation outside the TV building descended into violence on Sunday soon after around 2,000 people gathered in the place to protest the recent takeover by the country's army, following the stepping down of ex-president Blaise Compaore.
Presidential guards deployed in the vicinity of the building fired live rounds in the air to disperse the demonstrators who chanted slogans critical of the army.
Lieutenant-colonel Isaac Zida was named Burkina Faso's interim president on Saturday, a short time after Compaore was reported to have left the country for the neighboring Ivory Coast.
Opposition leader Jean-Hubert Bazie told demonstrators in the heart of the capital of Burkina Faso earlier in the day that he had met with the representatives of international institutions and opposition leaders in his country to discuss the situation in Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso's opposition accuses the newly-installed interim president of allowing Compaore to escape the country.
Compaore, who took over in 1987, planned to seek an extra term in office by proposing a constitutional amendment.
The move had sparked, however, nationwide protests that resulted in his stepping down and the takeover of Zida, who was the second-in-command in Compaore's presidential guard.
