IDLIB, Syria
At least 10 people were killed and dozens wounded in Syrian regime air raids Tuesday on Kafr Takharim town in the northern province of Idlib, opposition figures have claimed.
According to an Anadolu Agency reporter in the area, four buildings consisting of five floors collapsed because of “vacuum” missile attacks.
Dozens of injured people are receiving treatment at a field hospital in the area.
“The number of victims is likely to increase due to victims being stuck under rubble,” Mohamed Walid Hebs, a media office member of the Kafr Takharim Local Coordination Committee, said.
Civil defense volunteers are working on digging up the victims stuck under collapsed buildings, Hebs added.
Local Coordination Committees are groups of local Syrian activists who oppose the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and publish news via social media webpages.
Syria's civil conflict, which has entered its fifth year, has left tens of thousands of people dead and millions of others displaced both internally and externally.
