ANKARA
Turkish Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek said Monday that the budget deficit was calculated as 6.7 billion Turkish liras (TL) in the first six months of 2012.
In June 2012, the budget deficit was 6.3 billion TL.
First six months of 2012's budget deficit formed 31.8 percent of the foreseen amount of the total budget deficit of 2012 which was to be 21.1 billion TL, Minister Simsek told a press conference in Ankara on Monday.
Simsek highlighted that the 6.3 billion TL budget deficit in June was a large amount to see and said that the amount of budget deficit came out as 6.7 billion TL in the first six months of this year.
Moreover, Simsek said that in the first half of this year the non-interest surplus amount which was 19.6 billion TL formed lower than the amount in the first half of 2011 which was 25.3 billion TL.
We may implement additional taxes in 2013, says FinMin Simsek
Turkish Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek on Monday said that they would soon begin working on the budget for 2013.
Answering a question on the budget for 2013 during a press conference in Ankara, Mehmet Simsek said that they would consider if there was a need for additional measures and whether or not to implement additional taxes in 2013.
Touching on the possibility of the privatization of various institutions, Simsek said that it was the High Board of Privatization that would decide if organizations like the Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) would be privatized or not.
As of today, we have not made any decision on the possible privatization of various organizations, Simsek also said.
