BAKU
Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Celik on Thursday met his Azerbaijani counterpart Fizuli Alekperov in Baku.
Speaking to reporters while meeting Alekperov, Celik said that he had a chance to speak with Turkish businesspeople doing business in Azerbaijan as part of his trip to this country.
The mutual trade volume between Turkey and Azerbaijan could increase if our two ministries focus on solving problems, Celik noted.
"800 Turkish businesspeople in Azerbaijan have made investments worth 6.5 billion USD to date. There are 700 Azerbaijani companies in Turkey. 17,000 Azerbaijani citizens work in Turkey. Naturally, there could be mutual problems associated with employment. We need to meet more frequently in order to solve relevant problems," Celik stressed.
"If the problems do not get solved, our commercial relations could get hurt. Our trade volume in 2010-2011 went up 43 percent. We consider this figure fine but not sufficient. Our commercial relations must go forward by increasing," Celik noted.
"Turkey has made crucial reforms concerning labor and social security and we are ready to share our experiences with Azerbaijan," Celik stated.
