Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek on Wednesday visited the Pakistani National Parliament as part of his formal trip.
Pakistani Parliament Speaker Fehmida Mirza greeted Cicek at the Pakistani Parliament.
After planting a tree seed in the garden of the Pakistani Parliament, Cicek and Mirza held a tete-a-tete meeting for a while.
Cicek later proceeded to the Pakistani Parliament Library where he signed the special note-book.
Speaking to reporters at the Pakistani Parliament, Cicek said that he was pleased to see a female politician at the leadership of the Pakistani Parliament.
Pointing out that Turkey and Pakistan shared close relations, Cicek said that they were in Pakistan to develop relations between the parliaments of both countries.
"Turkey and Pakistan have similar problems. The most beautiful way to solve the problems is through the parliaments that reflect the national will of the peoples. Inter-parliamentary friendship groups are crucial for relations. Friendship groups have an important role to play in mutually conveying experiences," Cicek stated.
Cemil Cicek later proceeded to the Pakistani Senate where he was greeted by Pakistani Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain.
Speaking at the Pakistani Senate, Cicek said that the will of the people was highly important in democratic systems.
"We need to strengthen our democratic institutions," Cicek underlined.
"Turkey and Pakistan are always with each other in good and bad days. Such closeness can not be reflected on bilateral relations," Cicek said.
"Turkey and Pakistan need to increase cooperation in all fields. The two countries signed a high level cooperation agreement for this purpose," Cicek underlined.
"Pakistan is my second home. We invite Mr. Hussain to Turkey," Cicek also said.
As part of his talks, Cicek will meet Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf later on Wednesday.
