Turkish President Abdullah Gul was welcomed with a formal ceremony by his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Turkmenistan.
Diplomatic mission chiefs of Turkmenistan alongside Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz and Minister of Science, Industry, and Technology Nihat Ergun were present at the ceremony held at Ashgabat's main square.
Gul and Berdimuhamedow will hold a joint press conference after holding a bilateral meeting and presiding a gathering between officials from the two countries.
Gul will also attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the International Turkmen-Turkish University and he will be decorated with an honorary "professor emeritus" title by the State Institute of Turkmenistan Economics and Public Administration.
