CAIRO
Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal was announced to support Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's bid for an upgraded Palestinian status in the United Nations.
Spokesman for Hamas, Izzet ar-Rishk told AA correspondent on Monday that Mashaal expressed his pleasure and voiced his support over a phone call with Abbas on Monday morning.
Extending his support, Mashaal also stressed the approach to the UN should be part of a national vision and strategy that maintain the national principles and rights.
Mashaal said the Palestinian authority and Hamas would resume efforts to achieve conciliation between the two sides, which was a "national priority".
The Palestinian government is expected to submit the application to the UN on November 29, hoping to upgrade its status to a "non-member state".
