ANKARA
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev arrived in Turkey on Wednesday.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul welcomed Plevneliev with a formal ceremony at the Cankaya Palace in Ankara.
After holding tete-a-tete meeting and co-chairing meetings between delegations, Gul and Plevneliev will hold a joint press conference.
Turkey, Bulgaria have great cooperation
Gul said on Wednesday that Turkey and Bulgaria had great cooperation and solidarity.
Gul and Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev held a joint press conference in Ankara.
There have been perfect relations between the two countries, Gul said, stating that the two countries attached a great importance to economic cooperation.
Turkish-Bulgarian trade volume was nearly 3 billion Euros and the two countries aimed to bring this figure up to 10 billion Euros, he said.
The two countries had cooperation in several areas such as infrastructure, highways, railways and natural gas pipeline projects, he said.
In his part, Plevneliev said that they were eager to boost ties with Turkey.
Joint projects between Turkey and Bulgaria were also of great importance for the region, Europe and the world, the Bulgarian president said.
Plevneliev said that Bulgaria supported Turkey's EU bid and his country was ready to share its experiences regarding EU accession process.
Calling on Turkish companies to invest in his country, Plevneliev said that they were glad that Turkish companies had great interest especially in the area of telecommunication.
